The much-awaited Apple iPhone 15 series is set to hit the market in September, but reports suggest that consumers might face limited availability of certain models.
The series includes the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Production challenges have been linked to Apple’s ambitious goal of reducing bezel sizes on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models.
These manufacturing obstacles could potentially lead to delayed launches or shortages for eager consumers.
The focus of the production issues lies in assembling the displays for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. Apple’s suppliers are using a new manufacturing process to reduce the width of the display’s black border, also known as the bezel.
This innovation aims to offer slightly larger screens without increasing the physical size of the devices.
However, during production testing, displays made by LG have failed reliability tests due to a new process known as low injection pressure overmolding.
Despite these challenges, Apple seems determined not to delay the launch but expects to release the models in limited quantities.
The iPhone 15 series will still come with exciting updates, including USB-C charging, slimmer bezels, a titanium finish, an A17 Bionic chip, and a periscope lens.
