Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will lay out regulations for generative AI developers during a speech on Monday in Kyoto, according to the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper.

By assisting the public in differentiating between images and information produced by AI and those that aren’t, the guidelines seek to prevent misinformation, according to the Yomiuri. The recommendations might be put forth as early as this fall’s online G7 conference.

Kishida will stress the value of balanced regulation and caution against generative AI’s capacity to develop complex visuals and information that might mislead the public and endanger economies.
