Okin Biscuits has resumed production 17 years after its manufacturing operations were halted, following the rehabilitation of one of its production lines at its factory in Offa, Kwara State.

The company disclosed this in a statement shared on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, describing the development as a major milestone in its efforts to restore production.

According to the company, the production line had been rendered unusable after vandals removed critical components, including cables, frequency drives, contactors, motors and other electronic equipment.

The company said Tuesday’s operation was a technical trial run aimed at assessing the rehabilitated line and did not represent the final production of the biscuits.

It added that work was still ongoing to restore the taste and quality that Nigerians had come to associate with the Okin brand before production stopped.

The company stated, “For the first time in 17 years, biscuits rolled off one of our rehabilitated production lines at the factory in Offa. We had to rebuild the line after having all cables, frequency drives, contactors, motors and other electronic components stolen.”
