The Nigerian Postal Service and the Pan Africa Postal Union have urged businesses in the Africa to embrace e-commerce for cross-border service delivery.

The charge was made in a joint statement released on Tuesday by the NIPOST and PAPU’s secretary general, Mr Sifundo Chief Moyo, as the region’s postal industry as African nations observe Pan Africa Postal Union Day on Wednesday.

To raise awareness of fresh potential in the industry, this year’s PAPU Day celebration has as its theme “the Post: An established booster of cross-border e-commerce in Africa.”

The topic “speaks to the broader aim of the digital transformation of the conventional Post into the “Smart Post” built on new technologies for holistic and integrated service delivery,” according to Mr. Moyo.

“In light of the shared value proposition of placing the Post as the top advocate of international e-commerce in Africa. All postal players are urged to take advantage of all available opportunities for building capacity in order to expose their staff to the skills and knowledge required to continue playing the historical role of significant contributors to inclusive socioeconomic development for the benefit of the populace of our beloved continent.

The day’s economic impact, according to the Deputy Director of International Operations, Mr. Haobu Zoaka, is to motivate SMEs to succeed.

“It supports the growth of African Post in the postal sector.

“African Post as a Promoter of Cross-Border E-Commerce” is the title for this year. It entails maximizing SME prospects within the sector.

When e-commerce is projected and the Nigerian SMEs market receives international orders, the impact might be envisioned.

He promised that the Nigeria Postal Service will embrace the topic and support SMEs in their endeavors.

The African Postal Customer is honored on PAPU Day, which is a day set aside by Africa’s postal leaders each year to remember the continent’s founding of its flagship organization on January 18, 1980.
