Tencent Holdings Ltd. shares surged 6.6% in Hong Kong on Monday, continuing a winning streak fueled by the successful debut of DeepSeek.

Tencent announced that it is integrating DeepSeek’s artificial intelligence chatbot into WeChat.

The Shenzhen-based firm is joining a growing list of service providers and government bodies across China adopting DeepSeek’s software.

This move has boosted confidence in Tencent’s prospects, following a year of strong game releases that have driven its shares up 67% over the past year.

The release of DeepSeek’s R1 reasoning chatbot on January 20 has had a transformative impact on global stock markets, wiping out over a trillion dollars in value from US-listed companies investing heavily in acquiring the most powerful AI development hardware.

It has also sparked a $1.3 trillion rally in China as investors anticipate further advancements.
