WhatsApp on Tuesday unveiled a new native app for Mac. Users of the software will be able to hold audio and video chats with up to 32 people and up to eight participants, respectively.
On his Facebook page, Mark Zuckerberg published a message announcing the app’s release. The programme can be downloaded by users from the WhatsApp website. According to the platform, the macOS client will soon be accessible through the Apple App Store.
“The app is redesigned to be familiar to Mac users, helping you get more done faster when using WhatsApp on a large screen. You can now share files by easily dragging and dropping them into a chat, and you can view more of your chat history,” WhatsApp said in a blog post.
WhatsApp first made its desktop apps available in 2016, but due to changes in desktop computer architecture, it has updated its clients.
WhatsApp began testing multi-device connections to one account in 2021, allowing users to get messages on any of the four devices even if their phone is not online.
