Billionaire Elon Musk’s least expensive Cyber Truck, which is made by Tesla, would cost at least $60,990.
According to Bloomberg, this comes after Tesla Inc., the maker of electric cars, triumphed over a two-year ordeal marked by production setbacks and delays to formally introduce to consumers the first Cybertrucks inspired by Blade Runner.
It has been rumoured that CEO Elon Musk personally delivered a few cars, including one to Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian, at a ceremony held at Tesla’s Austin offices. Musk’s own social media network, X, hosted a live-streamed extravaganza of the announcement.
Pricing at $60,990, the entry-level Cybertruck is offered in three configurations: rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and the aptly dubbed Cyberbeast.
However, some state that this amount exceeds Elon Musk’s initial 2019 forecast by almost 50%. Most notably, a rear-wheel drive vehicle with a 250-mile battery range—the most affordable model, is scheduled for introduction in 2025. Delivery of the more expensive variants, such as the Cyberbeast, which costs close to $100,000, is anticipated for the following year.
Deepwater Asset Management’s managing partner, Gene Munster, expressed astonishment at the higher-than-expected cost and emphasized the necessity for Tesla to increase production in order to allay worries about pricing.
He acknowledged the difficulties that lay ahead, saying, “The truth is that the Cybertruck isn’t really out yet.”
The Cybertruck, Tesla’s entry into the hotly fought U.S. pickup truck industry, has generated mixed reviews. Analysts and other detractors have questioned the vehicle’s profitability and suggested that it be cancelled.
Elon Musk has called the production process “insanely difficult,” acknowledging the enormous complexity of the work.
Regarding the price difference, Musk highlighted the vehicle’s usefulness, saying, “It’s a very useful truck.” It’s more than just a grandstanding showpiece—like me.
