Kenyan law enforcement officers searched a Worldcoin facility near Nairobi over the weekend.

The raid, according to reports, takes place as the contentious cryptocurrency project that ChatGPT CEO Sam Altman unveiled last month is under more and more scrutiny.

Remember that privacy advocates from all over the world have voiced concerns regarding the collecting of biometric data through iris scans in exchange for $WLD tokens.

According to Kenyan local media, on Saturday, Kenyan police carried out a search warrant at a warehouse in Nairobi, the capital of the East African nation, and took Worldcoin’s records and equipment.

The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner oversaw the raid. Officers from many agencies were involved, and it led to the seizure of equipment and papers that were allegedly connected to the crypto project’s biometric data collecting.

This event comes a few days after the Kenyan Ministry of Interior and National Administration, which was concerned about privacy and security, ordered the crypto project to cease operations and opened an investigation into its operations there.
