Minister of Power, Engr. Joseph Tegbe, has dismissed reports suggesting that the Federal Government intends to withdraw electricity subsidies or raise electricity tariffs from next year.

Vanguard reported that the minister made the clarification on Monday during a press briefing held in Abuja to mark his first 100 days in office.

He stated that the government had no plan to introduce any tariff increase that would further burden Nigerians.

According to him, the government’s priority is to improve electricity supply and ensure Nigerians get better service without imposing additional financial pressure on consumers.

He said the government would continue to work towards improving power generation, transmission and distribution to provide more reliable electricity across the country.
