CBN offers N500bn treasury bills in final Q3 auction

The Central Bank of Nigeria, on behalf of the Debt Management Office, has invited banks and investors to bid for N500bn worth of Federal Government Treasury Bills at an auction scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

The auction will be the final Treasury Bills sale for the third quarter of 2026.

According to a notice, the CBN directed all Money Market Dealers to submit their bids through its S4 Web Interface between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

Successful bidders will receive their allotment letters on Thursday, September 24, and are required to make payment into their CBN accounts by 11:00 a.m. the same day.

The N500bn on offer comprises N100bn for the 91-day Treasury Bill, N100bn for the 182-day bill and N300bn for the 364-day bill.

The amount is the same as the previous auction but remains below the N700bn that had been the standard offer size for most of the third quarter.

The auction will offer N100bn in 91-day Treasury Bills, N100bn in 182-day bills and N300bn in 364-day bills, bringing the total offer to N500bn.

Each bid must be in multiples of N1,000, with a minimum bid of N50.001m. Money Market Dealers can submit multiple bids and may bid on behalf of themselves, other dealers or members of the public.

The auction results are expected to be released on Wednesday, September 23, with allotment letters scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2026.
