Amazon unveils AI office tools to challenge Microsoft, Salesforce

Amazon Web Services on Tuesday unveiled a new set of tools for logistics workers and recruiters, called Amazon Connect Decisions and Amazon Connect Talent.

Combined with a suite of health applications launched last month, the offerings signal Amazon’s growing push to apply its artificial intelligence capabilities to the enterprise software market, according to Bloomberg.

According to Gartner, the technology researcher, companies spent about $300 billion on software-as-a-service in 2025, covering tools for sales tracking, workforce management, and business planning.

Despite its dominance in cloud infrastructure, Amazon currently holds only a minimal share of that market.

However, the rise of AI models has created a new opportunity for the company, according to AWS Chief Marketing Officer Julia White.

The newly announced products are powered by AI agents, systems designed to act on behalf of users, such as conducting automated job interviews or generating spreadsheets that forecast product demand.

“We don’t have a big legacy of SaaS or, frankly, a franchise to protect,” White said in an interview ahead of the product announcement on Tuesday at an event in San Francisco. “It allows us to really embrace this agentic-first approach in a way that is going to be harder for other people.”

The new offerings place Amazon in closer competition with cloud rivals such as Microsoft Corp. and Oracle Corp., as well as with some of its major customers, including Salesforce Inc.

This is not unfamiliar territory for Amazon, which has long sought to reassure clients like Netflix—an AWS customer and also a direct competitor to Amazon’s Prime Video service, that it competes fairly and ethically.
