ADVAN recognised for advancing marketing practice, societal impact

The Advertisers Association of Nigeria has been honoured with the ‘President’s Award’ by the World Federation of Advertisers at its Global Marketer Week held in Stockholm, Sweden.

According to the statement, the award celebrates national industry associations whose initiatives strengthen marketing practice while delivering meaningful societal impact.

Reacting to the recognition, ADVAN said it emerged after a competitive selection process that featured entries from associations across the WFA’s global network.

“This year’s honours were awarded following a rigorous selection process involving submissions from associations across the WFA network, with winners chosen for their measurable impact and potential for replication across markets,” the association said.

ADVAN said the recognition was earned for its advocacy campaign, ‘Project Freedom’, an initiative designed to tackle what it described as restrictive and non-data-driven regulations impacting businesses in Nigeria and across other African markets.

According to the association, the campaign promotes evidence-based policymaking and encourages constructive collaboration between regulators and the private sector.

“The initiative underscores the importance of evidence-based policymaking while championing the constitutional right to freedom of commerce,” ADVAN said.

The association added that the campaign signals a move toward sustained dialogue and collaboration with policymakers, with the aim of ensuring regulatory frameworks foster innovation while safeguarding consumer interests.

“Through Project Freedom, ADVAN has taken a proactive leadership role in engaging key stakeholders and shaping conversations around fair, balanced, and transparent regulation,” the group added.

In the statement, the recognition places ADVAN among a select group of industry associations commended within the global marketing community for their policy advocacy and engagement with regulators.
