Meta has acquired Conductor, an AI coding startup that enables users to build software projects by deploying multiple AI agents across parallel workspaces.
Axios first reported the acquisition, which Conductor subsequently confirmed in a post on its blog.
“I have big news: Conductor is joining Meta,” wrote the startup’s founder and CEO, Charlie Holtz, on Wednesday. “We have some big, crazy plans for the next interface.”
He added that the company would introduce “something new” for customers to use by early next year.
In a post on X, Holtz also expressed enthusiasm about working with Meta’s Chief AI Officer, Alexandr Wang, and Nat Friedman, who leads product at the company’s Superintelligence Labs.
“They’ve been on an absolute tear, and I’m convinced MSL has the highest talent density of all the labs,” he said.
Founded in 2024, Conductor launched its flagship product only last summer. Its agentic teams, which can be deployed in the cloud, locally or through a user’s phone, are designed to enable software engineers to work collaboratively on separate, well-defined parts of a project.
The platform does not develop its AI agents in-house. Instead, it relies on models from major AI companies, including Anthropic and OpenAI.
Holtz said Conductor’s core features would continue to operate as they had previously until early next year.
