LagRide has deployed 400 new vehicles across Lagos as it intensifies preparations for the 2026 Ember Months, with plans to onboard more than 1,000 additional drivers between now and December.

The mobility platform disclosed this at the LagRide 2026 Driver Mobilisation and Fleet Flag-Off held at the LagRide Centre in Lagos, where more than 100 newly inducted drivers were flagged off in new vehicles.

LagRide said the deployment of the 400 vehicles would be carried out in phases as it works to improve vehicle availability and reduce passenger waiting times during the busy September-to-December period.

LagRide is targeting more than 200,000 rides during the Ember Months, as increased business activities, tourism, entertainment, airport traffic and end-of-year events are expected to drive a surge in movement across Lagos.

The Executive Director of LagRide Nigeria, Mildred Ekanem, said the expansion would strengthen the company’s existing fleet of more than 2,000 vehicles currently operating across Lagos.

She said, “We already have over 2,000 LagRide vehicles on the road across Lagos, and we are expanding from that position of strength. The 400 vehicles being deployed are part of our immediate expansion, and between now and December, we are targeting the mobilisation of over 1,000 additional Captains.

“The Ember Months bring increased movement across Lagos, and we are preparing ahead of that demand. Our focus is expanded availability, wider coverage and ensuring that when customers need a LagRide, there are more Captains ready to serve them.”

As part of its Ember Rush campaign, the e-hailing company said it was extending its services to communities such as FESTAC, Ikorodu and Ajah, while deploying more Captains to boost coverage in areas where it already operates.

The company said the expansion would be complemented by ongoing community outreach initiatives and its 24-hour customer service centre, which attends to complaints, enquiries and cases involving belongings left in vehicles.
