Tinubu arrives Brazil for two-day state visit

President Bola Tinubu has landed in Brasília, Brazil’s capital, for a two-day state visit.

This was disclosed by the president’s special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga via his official X handle.

According to Onanuga, Tinubu arrived from Los Angeles, United States, and was welcomed by senior Brazilian government officials at Brasília Air Base.

“The officials included Ambassador Carlos Sérgio Sobral Duarte, Secretary for Africa and the Middle East and Ambassador Carlos José Areias Moreno Garcete, Ambassador of Brazil to Nigeria,” he posted.

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Ojukwu, was also present to receive him.

“Other ministers, heads of key government agencies, and private sector members, who will participate in a string of bilateral talks and MOU signings, later welcomed President Tinubu to his hotel.

“The official welcoming ceremony, with full military honours, will take place on Monday at the Planalto Palace,” he added.

The visit comes after Tinubu attended the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development in Japan and made a three-day stopover in Los Angeles before heading to South America.

In Brazil, Tinubu’s state visit will aim to “activate multi-billion-dollar agricultural investments, advance joint initiatives such as the $1.1 billion Green Imperative mechanization project, and attract new foreign direct investment into Nigeria’s agriculture and energy sectors,” according to the presidency.
