Apple is developing a new smart doorbell camera featuring Face ID technology, enabling users to unlock doors securely and seamlessly using facial recognition, Bloomberg reports.

The device is anticipated to debut by the end of 2025, marking Apple’s latest innovation in biometric security.

The smart doorbell camera will mirror the functionality of Face ID found on iPhones. It will automatically unlock doors for recognized residents, offering a secure, hands-free entry system.

A critical feature of this device is the integration of Apple’s Secure Enclave chip, which stores and processes Face ID data securely, safeguarding user privacy.

The device will support HomeKit, Apple’s smart home platform, allowing compatibility with third-party smart locks. Reports suggest Apple may collaborate with a smart lock manufacturer to provide a fully integrated security solution.

This development aligns with Apple’s broader strategy to expand its presence in the smart home market. Alongside the doorbell camera, Apple is reportedly working on other smart home products, including: a new security camera** expected in 2026.

Apple is also working on a Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip, dubbed “Proxima,” expected to debut in devices like the HomePod Mini and Apple TV in 2025. This chip aims to improve connectivity and performance, reinforcing Apple’s smart home ecosystem.

Apple is also focusing on health and communication technologies for its wearable devices. By 2025, Apple Watch Ultra is set to include satellite communication, enabling messaging in areas without cellular or internet access.

Additionally, a blood pressure monitoring feature will offer users real-time insights into their cardiovascular health.
