Apple’s hit sci-fi series “Silo” will return for two more seasons, with production for the third installment already underway in the UK.
The announcement was made by Apple CEO Tim Cook, who joined the show’s star and executive producer, Rebecca Ferguson, on set at Hoddesdon Studios, just outside London.
“We feel great about it. We could not be more pleased. We’re already filming season three,” Cook shared in an interview from the show’s Silo 18 cafeteria. Ferguson added, “We get to walk around these environments again under new circumstances, new threats. It’s tense, it’s wonderful, and it’s mysterious.”
Based on Hugh Howey’s “Silo” book trilogy, the dystopian drama is set in an underground refuge where humanity’s remnants have lived for centuries, believing the Earth’s surface is uninhabitable. Ferguson portrays engineer Juliette, who unravels deadly secrets after investigating a loved one’s death.
The first season ended with her stepping outside Silo 18, and the second season, currently streaming on Apple TV+, delves deeper into her unraveling world.
Season four will conclude the series, with season two’s finale set to air on January 17.
Cook described Apple TV+ as a success, focusing on quality over quantity. “We think “Silo” is a fantastic example of that,” he said, highlighting the UK as a hub for exceptional storytelling.
