The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has restored TotalEnergies’ daily oil production back up to 275,000 barrels.
According to The Times, this is in line with a statement dated November 12 and signed by NNPCL’s chief corporate communications officer, Olufemi Soneye.
The statement claimed that TotalEnergies Management, the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria have mediated a peace agreement.
A part of the statement read: “The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association, the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, and the Management of TotalEnergies, the operator of the NNPC / TotalEnergies JV, reached a peace agreement on Sunday, November 12, 2023, through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited. As a result, the unions have decided to halt their current industrial action, which will immediately restore the production of 275, 000 barrels of oil per day.
“All parties pledged to resolve all the issues within an agreed framework in a communiqué published at the conclusion of a lengthy negotiation session headed by the Executive Vice President, Upstream, NNPC Ltd, Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan.
“The communiqué was signed by TotalEnergies MD/CEO Matthieu Bouyer, PENGASSAN President, Comrade Festus Osifo, and NUPENG President, Comrade Williams Akporegha. It was witnessed by NNPC Ltd.’s, EVP Upstream Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan and Chief Upstream Investment Officer, NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services, Bala Wunti. Also in attendance was Victor Bandele, Deputy Managing Director, TotalEnergies.”
PENGASSAN President, Comrade Festus Osifo, stated during the meeting: “We were able to come to an agreement today, and as a result, PENGASSAN has decided to immediately reinstate normalcy in all of its offices and field sites. We are dedicated to upholding every word of this agreement. We’ll let our members know to get back to work right away.”
