French digital minister, Jean-Noel Barrot has stated that the ousted OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is welcome in France.

The minister made the statement on X, a day after the OpenAI board fired Sam Altman for lack of confidence.

“Sam Altman, his team and their talents are welcome in France if they want to,” Digital Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said in a statement on X on Saturday.

Altman had a meeting with Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, to talk about France’s and Europe’s role in the global competition for artificial intelligence while travelling through European countries for meetings with political figures in May.
