The CEO of social networking platform X, Linda Yaccarino said in a post on Thursday that the company will begin hiring developers in Japan.
Yaccarino was quoted by Nikkei earlier this year as saying that X would create an app development team and begin hiring engineers in 2024 to create features and advertising solutions for the Japanese market.
According to the report, the development team plans to establish a low-cost advertising system to investigate the demand from small and medium Japanese firms.
Since Elon Musk acquired the company in October 2022, X has had trouble attracting advertisers. Recently, the company has seen a new wave of large brands leave, including Apple, Walt Disney, and Warner Bros. Discovery, due to growing worries about antisemitic material.
Yaccarino was cited by Nikkei as saying that Musk has extended a “full apology on the issue and full explanation,” and that X would also reiterate to its team in Japan how to deal with unsuitable information.
