Venmo and greeting card maker Hallmark have partnered to enable users to send physical gift card that is loaded with money.
The price of this new collection of cards, according to Hallmark, will be $4.99 on the company’s websites, at Hallmark Gold Crown stores, and at a few other retailers.
People will have the option of selecting cards from a variety of categories, including Birthday, Congratulations, Wedding, Holiday, and Everyday cards. They can then add the amount they want to gift, add a comment, and send it to them after scanning the QR code found within the card.
“Collaborating with Hallmark not only brings Venmo into the physical gifting space but also helps connect generations accustomed to giving physical greeting cards with cash to younger generations who are used to having everything digital – like a grandparent sending a birthday gift to their grandchild or a family celebrating a recent graduation.” Erika Sanchez, Vice President and General Manager at Venmo said in a statement.
According to a user survey, 78% of respondents use Venmo to send presents to one another. Venmo is owned by PayPal.
To make it simple for parents to give money to their children, Venmo introduced teen accounts and debit cards in May. Additionally, the recent inclusion of teen accounts along with the modern gift cards may make this a well-liked choice for the future holiday season.
