Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, has stated that as part of an expansion of the microblogging service’s monetization program, users would soon be paid for the advertisements that appear when other users read their profiles.
However, Musk claims that this deal is only available to confirmed users. The Twitter CEO said that the new monetization program would increase the reward for content providers on Twitter who presently receive compensation for content impressions.
Musk claimed that a number of Twitter accounts might make thousands of dollars if they became verified, in what looks to be an effort to persuade more users to pay for the blue tick.
Musk stated via his tweet: “You’ll soon also be paid for ads appearing when others view your profile page, approximately doubling payouts.
“Many accounts on this platform can earn thousands of dollars per month in advertising revenue sharing if they become verified subscribers!”
Last week, Twitter started its anticipated program for sharing advertising money with content creators. As a result, many American creators received payments in the thousands of dollars based on the number of impressions they generated.
The site now pays artists a portion of the advertising money it receives from serving ads in response to their posts.
Users that have more than 5 million tweet impressions per month over the last three months and are subscribers to Twitter Blue are eligible to enroll.
Musk stated that the initial batch of creator payments would be cumulative beginning in February and amount $5 million. Stripe is used to provide the payouts.
As interest from around the world has increased, Twitter says it is now opening up the monetization program to all content creators.
“Creators from all around the world have shown a lot of interest in the new advertisements revenue sharing program. All eligible creators can begin getting advertising money as soon as their work is out; all you need to do is set up payouts.
He added that in addition to creator subscriptions, the monetization solution will also include an extra program called ads revenue sharing.
According to Twitter, the content creator had to be a verified business or a subscriber to Twitter Blue in order to be eligible for the payment.
“Such a creator must also pass a human evaluation for Creator Monetization Standards and have “at least 5 million impressions on your posts in each of the last three months.”
Since Twitter currently uses Stripe for payouts and is rolling out to its initial round of artists who have previously signed up for creator subscriptions, it was stated that creators will also need to have a Stripe account.
