Social network, Twitch is introducing stories to allow users to interact with their audience even when they are not live.

The Twitch mobile app allows Partners and Affiliates who have streamed at least once for 45 minutes or more in the previous 30 days to publish tales that may be viewed by any of their subscribers and followers.

Twitch tales expire after 48 hours, as opposed to Instagram and Snapchat stories, which are only active for 24 hours. Streamers can post exclusive content for their subscribers if they have at least 30 subscribers. This week, the feature will be made available to eligible streams.

“You’ve built a loyal community on Twitch and your followers likely follow you on other platforms,” Twitch senior product manager Eduardo Fenili wrote in a blog post announcing stories.

“But we’ve heard form you that trying to connect with them through multiple services limits your reach and can feel rather disconnected from your shared experiences on Twitch.”

In order to inform their audience when they are coming live or if they are running late, streamers won’t need to use another social media network, according to Fenili, who implemented that option.

In order to receive alerts when their favourite streamers publish a new narrative, followers can enable push notifications.

Eligible Twitch streamers can publish clips from their channel or another channel to stories in addition to photographs and text submissions. Twitch emotes will be available for viewers to respond to tales, and streamers will be able to see views and reaction counts on their stories to monitor the content that connects with their audience the most.

According to Twitch, the streaming service uses “automated scanning measures” to thwart streamers from posting hazardous material. Stories must adhere to Twitch’s Community Guidelines, and viewers can report material that transgresses the platform’s security policies.

In the upcoming months, Twitch says it will roll out more narrative features like poll creation, streamer tagging, and editing tools.
