It has been scheduled that the Chairman of United Bank for Africa, Tony Elumelu, will give the keynote lecture at the fourth ECOWAS Mining and Petroleum Forum in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
According to The Punch, ECOWAS is offering a forum for participants in the ECOWAS mining and petroleum sectors, and is scheduled to take place from February 22 to February 24, 2024, according to a statement released by the bank on Monday.
UBA stated, “The bank is the preferred partner for the event because of its presence in 20 African nations and active participation in significant continental development projects, underscoring the bank’s commitment to the growth of mining and petroleum industry in the sub-region but to the whole not just African development.”
Elumelu would also deliver the keynote speech at the event’s opening ceremony. Elumelu serves as the Chairman of Transnational Corporation Group, an Indigenous conglomerate with interests in power and energy. His topic of discussion will be “Geo-extractive Resources and Technologies: What Pooling Strategies for Value Creation in West Africa.”
It is anticipated that during his speech, he will emphasize UBA’s growing initiatives to help and grow the continent of Africa by making calculated investments in the vital mining and petroleum industries.
More than 2,000 participants from a variety of industries are anticipated at ECOMOF 2024, including delegates from the ECOWAS, government officials, industry experts, and representatives from the mining and oil sectors.
Transcorp Group intends to actively participate in the forum as well.
