Tinubu signs seven bilateral agreements with Qatar

President Bola Tinubu sent a list of names to the Senate on Tuesday for the screening and confirmation of five nominees for Central Bank of Nigeria directors.

Tinubu made a formal request in a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which was read aloud on Tuesday during the plenary session.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, forwarded the letter to the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions for further legislative assessment after reading the letter to the House.

The committee has been given four weeks to report back to the plenary.

Akpabio then forwarded the request for additional legislative action and a report back to the full Senate in four weeks to the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions.

In a similar vein, Tinubu asked the Senate to confirm Mr. Hamidu Rahim’s appointment as Osun State’s commissioner for the National Population Commission in a separate letter.

According to Tinubu, the request complies with Section 154 Subsection 1 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The Senate Committee on National Population and National Identity was asked to take up further legislative work and report back to the full Senate in one week, according to Senate President, Godswill Akpiabio.
