A four-hour documentary about Elon Musk continues to face challenges on social media, with TikTok suspending the film’s advertising account.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the documentary’s distributor, Bleecker Street, was recently informed by TikTok that its account had been permanently suspended over its political content.
Advertisements promoting the trailer for Musk, a documentary directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney, were initially rejected by Meta and YouTube.
Both platforms eventually approved the adverts, with Meta attributing its initial rejection to an “error”.
Gibney recently confirmed that Universal, the film’s international distributor, had reconsidered its plans to release the documentary, although the release is now moving ahead.
X, the social media platform owned by Musk, has refused to run advertisements for the film.
Meanwhile, TikTok’s US operations are partly owned by Larry Ellison, who, like Musk, has been a prominent supporter of President Donald Trump.
