The chief financial officer of Spotify Technology, Paul Vogel, said on Thursday that he will leave the company at the end of March of next year.

Vogel is stepping away from the company after a career at the music streaming company that has spanned eight years.

Vogel leaves the organization after a challenging week. Following the departure of 600 employees in January and 200 more in June, Spotify said that it would lay off about 1,500 workers, or 17% of its workforce.

Ben Kung, vice president of financial planning and analysis, will assume more duties in the interim as the company, announced on Thursday, said it has begun an external search for a replacement.
