Spotify is enhancing its AI DJ feature to feel more interactive, allowing users to make voice requests for song choices or playlist moods. The update, now rolling out to Premium subscribers in over 60 markets, supports only English at launch.

Previously, the AI DJ offered curated song selections with brief commentary between tracks. With the new update, users can now ask the DJ to switch genres, change the vibe, or play music from specific artists using voice commands.

To access the AI DJ, users can search for “DJ” in the app, then press and hold the DJ button located at the bottom right of the screen to speak requests. A quick tap of the button changes the playlist’s feel without needing to specify a command.

Spotify first introduced the AI DJ in February 2023 in the U.S. and Canada, expanding it globally in August that year. In 2023, the platform also added a Spanish-speaking version of the feature.

This move is part of Spotify’s broader push into AI, which also includes a tool that generates playlists from written prompts.
