Sony said on Friday it will increase prices for its flagship PlayStation 5 consoles for the second time in under a year, blaming “pressures in the global economic landscape.”
In the United States, the PS5 disc edition will rise from $549.99 to $649.99, a $100 increase following last year’s hike.
The digital edition will also climb by $100 to $599.99, while the PS5 Pro, the company’s most advanced model, will jump $150 to $899.99.
The changes take effect on April 2.
“We know that price changes impact our community, and after careful evaluation, we found this was a necessary step to ensure we can continue delivering innovative, high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide,” Sony said in a blog post.
When Sony increased prices worldwide last year, it did so amid sustained high inflation and uncertainty driven by U.S. tariffs.
The company is now grappling with an unprecedented spike in memory prices.
Sony has also increased PlayStation 5 prices in Japan, the U.K. and across Europe. In the U.K., each PS5 model will rise by £90 (about $120).
