Snap Inc. is expanding its support for augmented reality creators with the release of new tools in Lens Studio, aimed at enhancing the development of Bitmoji-powered games.
The updates, part of Lens Studio 5.10, include a suite of game assets and features that enable developers to build more dynamic, interactive experiences, TechCrunch reported.
Among the key additions is a turn-based system that allows for back-and-forth gameplay between users, enabling players to Snap and respond to a challenge within the same game session. A newly introduced customizable Character Controller supports multiple gameplay perspectives, including third-person, first-person, side-scrolling, and top-down views.
Snap has also upgraded its leaderboard system, offering fresh templates for start and end screens, a combined view of friends’ and global scores, and new metrics such as “friends who have played.”
Alongside these updates, Snap is debuting a Bitmoji Suite, designed to help creators personalize and animate Bitmoji characters. Developers can now craft custom outfits, generate stylized props, and animate characters using Snap’s built-in library.
The company is also rolling out a new lineup of Bitmoji Game Lenses, including Bitmoji Bistro, Bitmoji Buckets, and Beatmoji Blast. These single-player and turn-based games allow users to challenge their friends directly through Snapchat—a first for the platform’s Bitmoji offerings.
“Lens Studio empowers our vibrant community of over 375,000 AR creators, developers, and teams to seamlessly build and publish Lenses, so we’re excited to give them even more tools to create,” Snap said in a statement.
In tandem with the launch, Snap has introduced the Bitmojiverse Challenge, offering developers the chance to win cash prizes for incorporating the new Bitmoji Suite and game assets into their AR experiences.
The move underscores Snap’s continued push to innovate in AR and gaming, as the company seeks to expand its creator ecosystem and deepen user engagement on Snapchat.
