Yousef bin Mohammed Al-Balawi, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Nigeria, has held talks with Aliko Dangote, chairman of the Dangote Group, on potential investments in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
The meeting took place on Friday at the ambassador’s residence in Abuja’s diplomatic quarter and was aimed at strengthening economic ties between both countries, According to the News Agency of Nigeria.
During the discussions, the envoy said the engagement underscores the growing momentum in Saudi–Nigerian economic relations and a mutual commitment to expand collaboration in strategic areas such as energy, industry, and infrastructure.
Al-Balawi said the talks underscored the strengthening economic partnership between the two countries, with particular emphasis on mutually beneficial investment opportunities.
He said discussions also reviewed the outcomes of Dangote’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia, alongside potential opportunities for the Dangote Group in the kingdom, as well as prospects presented by the Group’s companies to Saudi partners.
The ambassador later hosted a dinner in Dangote’s honour and presented him with a commemorative gift to mark the occasion.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has sought a partnership with Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory in the areas of security, economic development, and green city initiatives.
Al-Balawi commended the administration of Bola Tinubu and the FCT for their efforts toward building a “beautiful green city.”
He added that Saudi Arabia remains open to deepening cooperation with the FCT administration and exchanging ideas on sustainable urban development.
