Salesforce is cutting more than 1,000 jobs while simultaneously hiring employees to support its artificial intelligence initiatives, Bloomberg News reported.
Displaced employees will have the opportunity to apply for other positions within the company. However, details on which departments would be most affected by the layoffs remain unclear.
As of January 31, 2024, the cloud-based software giant had 72,682 employees, according to its latest annual report. In December, CEO Marc Benioff revealed that Salesforce had secured more than 1,000 paid contracts for “Agentforce,” its AI-powered virtual assistant platform.
The layoffs follow previous workforce reductions in the past year. In January 2024, The Wall Street Journal reported that Salesforce cut around 700 jobs. Bloomberg News later noted in July 2024 that the company had eliminated an additional 300 positions.
Salesforce is set to release its quarterly earnings report on February 26.
