The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry has cautioned industrial organizations to brace themselves for disruptions as technology continues to disrupt company operations worldwide.
According to The Punch, the Chairman of the LCCI’s Trade Promotion Board, Leye Kupoluyi, stated this at the media launch for this year’s Information Communication Technology and Telecommunications Expo.
The event’s topic this year is “Tech Disrupt: Transforming Industries with Innovation.”
Kupoluyi stated at the launch that in order to sustain innovation and catch up with the rest of the world, Nigerian startups must be given a platform to practically demonstrate their new technological discoveries, allowing them to have desirable turnover, increase profit merging, gain market share, and enhance customer loyalty.
“We’ve seen personal computers supplant mainframe computers and digital cameras supplant film cameras, but now human roles are being replaced by robots, while business owners struggle to keep up with current trends as what they just learn becomes obsolete before they even implement.”
“Technological disruption is a fundamental transformation of business models caused by the replacement of humans and existing business archetypes as a result of technological advancement,” he explained.
According to Kupoluyi, the ICTEL 2023 will be a demo-driven event that will highlight these enormous forces that are changing the world’s industries in unprecedented ways, creating new economic opportunities, and accelerating innovation.
