Adult content giants Pornhub, Stripchat, and XVideos must undertake risk assessment evaluations and implement measures to mitigate systemic risks associated with their services to adhere to new EU regulations on online content.
These companies, classified as very large online platforms last December under the Digital Services Act, are mandated to intensify efforts to remove illegal and harmful content from their platforms.
Effective April 21 for Pornhub and Stripchat, and April 23 for XVideos, these platforms are obligated to fulfill DSA requirements, which are among the most stringent in the industry, as stated by the EU executive.
These obligations entail submitting risk assessment reports to the Commission and implementing mitigation measures to address systemic risks inherent in their service provision.
Additionally, these companies must fulfill supplementary transparency obligations, including those concerning advertisements and facilitating access to data for research purposes.
Failure to comply with DSA regulations could result in fines of up to 6% of their global annual turnover.
