Meta has slashed the price of its Quest 2 VR headset for the second time this year, marking a permanent reduction.

The base model, boasting 128GB of storage, now retails at $199, down from its previous price of $249. Prior to January 2, the headset was priced at $299.

This price adjustment coincides with Meta’s introduction of the more advanced Meta Quest 3, which starts at a significantly higher price point of $499. The markdown on Quest 2 suggests Meta’s efforts to clear out the remaining inventory of the preceding model.

Nonetheless, the Quest 2 remains our top recommendation for an affordable VR headset, and the price drop to $199 only enhances its appeal.

For a modest investment, users gain access to a headset featuring fast-switching LCD displays boasting a resolution of 1832×1920 per eye and a 90Hz refresh rate.

With a robust library of VR applications and compatibility with cloud gaming services like Xbox Cloud Gaming, the Quest 2 offers a compelling entry point into the world of virtual reality.

In addition to reducing the price of the Quest 2 headset, Meta has also lowered prices on its accessories. The Elite Strap and Elite Strap with Battery are now available at a 50% discount, priced at $25 and $45, respectively.

The Fit Pack, designed to enhance comfort during use, has also been halved in price to $20. Furthermore, the official carrying case has seen a price drop from $45 to $20.
