A Polish regulatory agency has started an investigation into the allegation that OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot violates the GDPR, or General Data Protection Regulation
In San Francisco federal court, OpenAI has already encountered at least its second class action lawsuit for allegedly violating privacy regulations. When the complaint was first published earlier this month, it did not reply to demands for comment.
“The case concerns the violation of many provisions on the protection of personal data, so we will ask Open AI to answer a number of questions,” Jan Nowak, President of Poland’s Personal Data Protection Office said.
The anonymous complainant, according to UODO, claimed that OpenAI failed to correct inaccurate information that ChatGPT had created on them.
The complainant claimed they were unable to determine which of their private information the company processed and that they were given evasive and inaccurate answers to their inquiries.
Earlier this year, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which had only been available for two months, attained 100 million active users, making it the fastest-growing consumer application in history.
