Osun partners FG to export made-in-Osun goods globally

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has revealed that his administration is actively collaborating with two Federal Government agencies to ensure that goods produced within the state successfully reach the global market.

Governor Adeleke specifically identified the collaborating agencies as the Nigerian Export Promotion Council and the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, stating the partnership aims to open wider channels for made-in-Osun goods in international markets.

The governor made this disclosure in Osogbo, the state capital, on Monday, while formally declaring open the 2025 Osun Trade Fair.

He further stated that his administration has established industrial clusters and agro-processing zones in a deliberate bid to increase production and enhance value addition. He expressed optimism that these new facilities would strategically position Osun as a leading hub for agro-allied and creative industries in Southwest Nigeria.
Represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Teslim Igbalaiye, the governor commented on the trade fair’s theme, “Positioning Local Contents for the Global Market,” noting that it reflected the administration’s commitment to making Osun a center of quality production and global competitiveness.

Governor Adeleke elaborated on the administration’s strategy, saying: “We continue to partner with development agencies and private investors to strengthen small and medium enterprises. Osun-made products which include honey, cocoa, garri, adire, black soap and crafts, already meet global standards as they remain some of the best in the country.”

He then outlined the immediate next steps for the state’s products: “The next step is strong packaging, branding and export readiness. This is why we work closely with NEPC, NIPC and other partners to open wider export channels for our producers.” He confirmed the infrastructure development goals, stating: “We are also establishing industrial clusters and agro-processing zones to increase production and add value as we believe strongly that these facilities will position Osun as a leading hub for agro-allied and creative industries in the Southwest.”

Governor Adeleke concluded by commending the leadership of the Osun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Osun business community, and all partners for organizing the fair, emphasizing that their commitment confirmed that government/private sector partnership would achieve success, if diligently pursued.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Osun State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr Bunmi Jenyo, asserted that the state is currently undergoing a systemic repositioning of its commercial and industrial sectors through practical policies that champion innovation and inclusive growth.

Commissioner Jenyo further assured that the state would continue to strengthen local industries and support vibrant Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises by enhancing the value chain of its abundant natural and human resources to drive value addition to meet international product standards and branding requirements.

Speaking further on the activities of his Ministry, Jenyo stated that its officials were actively engaging with the business community to identify challenges and jointly create practical solutions. He urged all participants to work together for the success of the fair, guaranteeing them the State Government’s full support for the event to achieve its desired results.

The PUNCH had previously reported on October 17 that the State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Bunmi Jenyo, unveiled a document that provided crucial information regarding the organization and investment opportunities that would be available during the 2025 Osun Trade Fair.

While formally presenting the document for the trade fair, which also bore the theme ‘Positioning local content for global market,’ the Chairman of the Trade Fair Committee, David Awotipe, clarified that the event was open to “Nano, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, large scale business organisation, financial institutions, educational research institutions, as well as all local government areas in the state.”

Highlighting some of the key objectives of the fair, Awotipe explained that the event was designed to promote the industrial and commercial potentials of Osun to the global market, adding that it would also provide a vital avenue for commerce and industry to show their contribution to the economic growth and development of the state. He concluded that the fair would specifically expose and promote local content of locally made products and agriculture, mining and tourism for the global market.
