Sam Altman is set to reclaim his position as CEO of OpenAI, overcoming the upheaval caused by an attempted boardroom upheaval that disrupted the company in recent days.

Also, Greg Brockman, the former president who resigned in protest of Altman’s dismissal, will also make a return.

In a statement released late Tuesday, the company revealed an “agreement in principle” for Altman’s reinstatement, alongside a new board lineup comprising Bret Taylor, Larry Summers, and Adam D’Angelo. Notably, D’Angelo, who was part of the previous board that initially ousted Altman, retains his position in this new board, providing representation from the former board, as per sources within the company.

“I am looking forward to returning to OpenAI,” Mr Altman said in a post on social media.

He added: “I love OpenAI, and everything I’ve done over the past few days has been in service of keeping this team and its mission together.

“I’m looking forward to returning to OpenAI, and building on our strong partnership with Microsoft.”
