The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has ranked Max Air as the least responsive domestic airline to passenger complaints, according to recent data from its Consumer Protection Department.
This was disclosed by NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, in a post on X on Thursday.
Achimugu also revealed that the authority received reports accusing Max Air of allegedly threatening travel agencies for filing complaints with the regulator.
“According to NCAA data, Max Air has been the most unresponsive domestic airline per passenger complaints and determinations by the NCAA CPD,” Achimugu said.
“In some cases, there have been allegations of threats to travel agencies for daring to report to the CAA. This will be put to a stop immediately.”
He further stated that Air Côte d’Ivoire, the Ivorian national carrier, has been reported for cancelling flights on days with low passenger numbers.
According to Achimugu, the airline allegedly consolidates flights from multiple days in order to meet its desired passenger capacity.
“Both cases will be handled expeditiously by the NCAA,” he added.
The director noted that while the authority supports all airlines and recognises that disruptions can occasionally occur, compliance with regulations is mandatory and not “a choice of convenience.”
