Meta on Wednesday, announced that it would introduce broadcast channels, a tool that allows users to share their conversations with the public, on Facebook and Messenger.
In a highly competitive online world, social media companies are adding additional features to support engagement across apps.
The decision comes at a time when broadcast channels on Telegram, a competing messaging service, have grown significantly in importance in the war between Israel and Hamas as the main avenue of communication for the Palestinian Islamist organisation with the rest of the world.
“We’re currently testing the ability for Pages to create broadcast channels and expect to roll this out in the coming weeks,” Meta stated in a statement.
Last month, Meta made WhatsApp Channels available to users in more than 150 countries. Instagram also offers this feature.
