Meta on Wednesday announced that it is now opening up verification badges to businesses after initially introducing Meta Verified to creators.
The company is initially piloting the verification programme on Facebook and Instagram with retailers in a few specific regions, but it hopes to push it out to businesses on WhatsApp in the future.
A Meta Verified subscription costs $21.99 per month per Facebook page or Instagram account for businesses. Additionally, they can pay $34.99 for both each month. The cost of WhatsApp verification was not disclosed by the firm.
The advantages of Meta Verified for businesses include a badge, increased reach, and impersonation protection, much like for creators.
However, there is no distinction because the company offers both enterprises and creators the same badge. If impersonation protection differs for this tier, Meta did not make that clear.
Businesses will need to meet eligibility requirements, such as verification through phone, email, or domain name, and maintain a minimum level of activity on their pages or Instagram accounts, according to the Mark Zuckerberg-led corporation, in order to acquire subscriptions. However, Meta didn’t go into detail about these needs and indicated they would when the deployment started.
