A major traffic gridlock has left hundreds of motorists and passengers stranded along the Agbor–Benin Expressway, with some travellers reportedly spending the night in their vehicles.
The congestion, which began on Wednesday, has been worsened by the poor condition of sections of the highway and the breakdown of heavy-duty trucks along the route.
The affected areas have become difficult to navigate, leaving vehicles stuck for hours.
Passengers and drivers caught in the gridlock have expressed concern over the prolonged delay and the lack of easy access to basic necessities while waiting for traffic to ease.
Motorists are calling for urgent intervention to remove obstructing vehicles, improve traffic flow and address the damaged sections of the highway to prevent a recurrence.
