Marketers yet to get Dangote fuel after four weeks

Oil marketers announced that, they were still anticipating the supply of refined products, weeks after the take off, of the multi billion dollar plant, by Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

This follows the announcement made by Dangote refinery, on the commencement of production of diesel and aviation fuel on January 12, 2024, according to The Punch.

In the statement, Aliko Dangote, President, Dangote Group, had thanked the President, Bola Tinubu for encouragement and insight; Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited; Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission and other Nigerians, for their unwavering support towards the actualization of the project.

He said “His intervention at various stages cleared all impediments thereby accelerating the actualization of the project. We also thank the NNPC, NUPRC and NMDPRA for their support. These organizations have been our dependable partners in this historic journey.

“We also thank Nigerians for their belief and support in this project. We have started the production of diesel and aviation fuel, and the products will be in the market within this month once we receive regulatory approvals.”

The oil marketers however, disclosed on Monday that they have not been called up, by Dangote refinery after their registration.

Abubakar Maigandi, President IPMAN, revealed that, they have not been called till this moment, when contacted on Monday.

“However, we are still optimistic that they will call us to come and start lifting products. It is when we start loading, that we can talk about the price and others.

“So for now we are awaiting their call and we assure Nigerians that once we start loading products from there, it is going to get to the over 30,000 filling stations operated by IPMAN members across the country,” he added.

Meanwhile, sources at Nigerian Midstream Downstream Regulatory Authority; the regulators had confirmed, the process of approval are still ongoing.

The oil marketers however, noted that the commercial terms were still been worked on, and the information would be made available once it is ready.
