Lagos strengthens Red Line capacity with new 24-car train delivery

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu says the state has taken delivery of a new set of 24-car trains to boost operations on the Red Line.

In a post on X on Thursday, he noted that the additional trains will increase capacity, reduce waiting times, and make daily commuting easier for residents.

“We have received a new set of 24-car trains to strengthen the Lagos Red Line fleet.

“This will improve capacity, reduce wait times and make daily commuting easier for Lagosians.

“We remain focused on building a transport system that is efficient and reliable for everyone. That is still our goal,” the governor said.

The Lagos Red Line Rail commenced commercial operations on October 15, 2024, after being inaugurated earlier in February by President Bola Tinubu.

The rail corridor stretches from Agbado to Oyingbo, with key stations at Iju, Agege, Mushin, Oshodi, and Yaba.

It is expected to transport as many as 500,000 passengers daily along the route.
