Kuda Microfinance Bank has announced plans to organise a sequence of events lasting a month for female professionals, aimed at commemorating this year’s International Women’s Day.
The objective is to foster equity and support the professional advancement of women.
According to The Punch, a statement from Kuda revealed that the objective of the campaign was to reposition women towards economic growth and assist them in achieving success in their careers and businesses.
The Chief People Officer, Kuda, Rosie Hewat, expressed that the company is committed to fostering a positive work atmosphere where individuals, regardless of gender, can aspire towards achieving the pinnacle of their careers and fulfilling their personal objectives.
In her words, “We have always been intentional about building an organisation where gender equity is an obvious norm. We are excited to report that we have made progress with reflecting this core, particularly within our engineering and product teams. This is a part of our growth process, and we will continue to work towards building the type of workplace we dream of.”
According to her, Kuda has taken several measures to promote gender equality over the past year, including refining its internship program that aims to equip young engineers and product managers with the necessary skills to advance their careers from school to the workplace.
“As a result of these equity-promoting initiatives, Kuda remains a work of reference. Over the past year, we have increased the number of female hires by 133 per cent, grown the number of women on our product team by 87 per cent and increased the number of female members of our Engineering team by 144 per cent.
“We are also proud to announce that the ratio of female-to-male employees at Kuda is now 1:1,” she further stated.
