FG to meet aviation stakeholders on Thursday

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, will be meeting with aviation stakeholders in Abuja on Thursday, continuing the tradition of regular engagements with major players in the aviation industry since the beginning of the Buhari administration.

According to The Punch, the Special Assistant to the minister on Public Affairs, James Odaudu, said the aim of these regular meetings is to ensure that all stakeholders in the aviation industry are kept informed and included in important discussions.

Odaudu said the objective of the meeting is also to enhance the contributions of stakeholders in the development and implementation of programmes and policies for the success of the aviation industry.

Based on the statement, the upcoming stakeholders’ forum, which is the 10th edition, will be an interactive session designed to bring together all relevant players in the aviation industry.

The goal of this session is to collaborate on the policies and programs that have propelled the nation’s aviation industry forward and will continue to do so, thereby positioning it as one of the best in the global aviation community.

The forum will avail the Federal Ministry of Aviation with the opportunity to have direct contact with key players both within and outside the aviation industry. Also a platform to bring up/gather new ideas on the progress path and future development of the industry in Nigeria.

Additionally, the forum is anticipated to provide another platform for stakeholders to express their views on the progress made so far and guarantee that policies and programs implemented in the aviation industry reflect the aspirations of Nigerians.

The ultimate objective is to promote the socio-economic and national development of the country.

The minister, speaking through his media assistant said, “the forum will also seek to provide answers to pertinent questions, provide sensitisation and clarifications on policies and programmes, and provide awareness of activities of government and non-governmental organisations in the industry.”

It was reported that the meeting would be declared open by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

The event will also feature the presence of all relevant industry stakeholders within and outside the industry namely; the Ministers of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Labour and Employment, Health, Agriculture, Transportation and Environment.

It was however noted that key players outside the aviation industry would be present. They are the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Accountant General of the Federation, Chairman, National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission, Director-General, Budget Office, Presidential Committee on Salaries, and CEOs of Media establishments.
