Instagram offers YouTubers up to $500,000 to post long videos

Instagram is offering select YouTube creators between $50,000 and $500,000 to bring their long-form videos to Features, its new format supporting videos of up to 90 minutes.

This was disclosed in a report by Business Insider, citing people familiar with the deals.

The agreements are non-exclusive, with Instagram seeking to have creators publish their long-form YouTube videos on the platform on the same day, one source stated.

“The details of those deals are confidential, but we’re excited to see the content going live.” Meta spokesperson said.

Instagram announced Features on 26 October. By comparison, YouTube’s Partner Program gives creators 55 per cent of advertising revenue from long-form videos. YouTube has also doubled its entry requirements for 2027.

The difference in monetisation sparked complaints from creators on Threads and Reddit within hours of the announcement, The Verge reported.

Creator Sidney Raskind said on Threads that long-form video creators “need ad rev to survive”.

He described asking them to upload their work without payment as “insane”.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri responded to the criticism on Threads, saying Features had not fully launched and that the company was gradually expanding access to the new format.
