The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company said it has added 24 new Band A feeders to its network following the current power outage across the country.

This is disclosed in a statement by Ikeja Electric via its official X Handle on Monday.

The new feeders who were initially under a different Band category will now pay the newly revised tariff of N206/kWh as Band A feeders.

According to IE, the company’s capacity to sustain at least 20 hours of daily availability during a performance evaluation period supervised by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) is what motivates it to add more Band-A feeders to its network.

IE also mentioned that there are currently 128 authorized Band-A feeders.

“Premised on our demonstrated ability to consistently provide a minimum of 20 hours of daily availability during a performance evaluation period monitored by the Regulator, we are pleased to announce that we have obtained approval to add 24 Band A feeders to our network,” the statement reads.

Recall, AMbusiness had earlier reported that that the Transmission Company of Nigeria said the labour union had shut down the national grid following the ongoing strike action.

The shutdown resulted in a total blackout across the country.
