The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has said that during the construction of the Dangote refinery, he visited the site the most.
Emefiele said this during his address at the inauguration of the refinery on Monday, at the Dangote Refinery Complex in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
Dangote Refinery complex is established by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, and is located in the Lekki Free Zone area of Lagos.
According to the CBN Governor, friends of the country, especially, those in the western countries, doubted the project. So, any time he had such doubts, he would consult Aliko Dangote to be reassured of the success of the project and even visit the site to be sure.
He said, “Aliko Dangote told me I have visited the refinery more than even the members of staff.
“Every time I travel abroad and discuss Nigeria’s economy and how the Dangote refinery would improve it, they always doubted and laughed.
“When I return, I would call Aliko, “will this project work”, and he would assure me that it would, then I would say let’s go and see it again.”
