Honda recalls about 1.2M vehicles over rear camera issues

Honda Motor Company Limited, has announced the recalling of nearly 1.2M vehicles in the United States, because the rear view camera image may not appear on the dashboard screen.

 

The motor company made this disclosure on Friday June 23, 2023, in documents posted by U. S safety regulators.

 

Reports revealed that the recall covers certain Odyssey minivan from 2018 to 2023, Pilot SUVs from 2019 to 2022, as well as Passport SUVs from 2019 to 2023, which the rear camera issue was traced to a faulty coaxial cable connector.

 

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, if the rear view camera image doesn’t display, it can cut driver visibility and increase the risk of a crash.

 

However, the company also revealed that it has received nearly 274,000 warranty claims from May 2017 to June 8, however noted that It has no reports of any injuries from any vehicle so far.

 

Honda however promised that dealers will replace a cable harness, and install a straightening cover, which is not going to cost owners, anything.

 

“Dealers will replace a cable harness and install a straightening cover at no cost to owners, who will be notified by letter starting July 24,” Honda said.
